Plans for Communal Bins

Email from Edinburgh Council:-
Dear Community Council, We will soon be having some engagement events to let residents know our plans for changes to communal bins for phase 4 (see map below) of the communal bin reviewwhich has previously been approved by the Transport and Environment Committee, so we wanted to let you know more about this. This will improve the recycling services and the local environment for people who live in flats. Where there are currently parking restrictions, we need to secure Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs). This is a legal process we use to make changes to parking and road layouts ensuring stakeholders can become actively engaged in the process. At these engagement events residents will be able to find out more about the communal bin review and its project aims, approach and criteria and the parameters used to determine the bin locations and the TRO process and also would be able to provide feedback. These will be at: MarchmontEric Liddell Centre 15 Morningside RoadWed 13 October 12-4pmSouthsideNicolson Square Methodist Centre 25 Nicolson SquareWed 20 October 12-4pmTollcrossTBCw/c 25 October Further events will be held in the second half of November to cover the remaining areas of the phase 4 of the project and the provisional venues for these events are as follows: Broughton Broughton St Mary’s Church, 12 Bellevue CrescentNew Town Rose Theatre, 204 Rose Street or Or Ps&Gs Church, York PlaceStockbridge and Inverleith Number 7, 7 Raeburn Place Old Town The Crannie Community Hub, 9 Cranston StreetWest End Walpole Hall, 27 Chester Street We will have officers on site to answer questions. When works are about the start on a street in your ward, we’ll send postcards to the residents to let them know. We’ll also keep you and the relevant community councils up to date. Once works are underway, we’ll send residents more information about the changes and how to best use the recycling service. We’ll start to introduce Bin Hubs from 2021 throughout the city with full waste and recycling services starting in Leith, Leith Walk and Craigentinny wards later this year. More information about these, and how we are deciding where to create the bin hubs is all on the updated webpages. It would be great if you could promote these engagement events through your channels and if you have any questions, please let us know.
